Angel & His Mambokat Combo perform original songs and resurrect carefully curated vintage mambo & cha cha cha instrumental arrangements not heard live in 60 years.
The Mambokat sound is an amalgamation of dance music styles pioneered over half a century ago which were "the Soundtracks to Elegance" and when "Champagne & Mambo" was the combination of choice for chic socialites coast to coast. Angel artfully performs with his smaller configuration or "combo" of his larger Angel & The Mambokats band that blow with a horn section. This combo consists of the Mambokat rhythm section and the vibraphone. You also hear the vocal stylings of the leader and founder of The Mambokats Angel Ferreira. His vocal style has an array of influences that have inspired him since childhood.
This configuration or combo style was pioneered by music legends like Joe Loco, Pete Terrace, Bobby Montez, Rene Touzet, Eddie Cano, Cal Tjader and Joe Cuba.
