Angst Athens

Angst Athens is a Finnish Synthwave producer living in Helsinki.


Coming from a background of blues, hard rock and metal through playing guitar in <a href="spotify:artist:6wpM2MloHx5s3AH5KPMWGY" data-name="PLANISTRY">PLANISTRY</a>, Angst Athens was the escape from the guitar-driven music; an exploration to the realm of synth-driven music.


Debut EP <a href="spotify:album:3RzNaV6kvdltl3Ao49x43Y" data-name="Angst Athens">Angst Athens</a> was released in spring 2017. The debut EP was an experimental piece, focusing on finding the middle ground between atmospherical melodies and progressive elements from the past of Angst Athens.


The debut EP was followed by a darker single <a href="spotify:album:2X74qL55ejHnHnTckNRqZI" data-name="Vacuum">Vacuum</a> in summer 2017. This single was a manifestation of the metal background of Angst Athens. Vacuum has stayed as the most played song in the repertoire, which is for being a brave step into breaking out from the rules of the Outrun/Synthwave genre.


The EP <a href="spotify:album:4goNrTcIrmveAeT2K6RlIw" data-name="The Finale of Species">The Finale of Species</a> was released in 2019 and presents Angst Athens as his most ambitious form, taking all the stylistics of the previous songs and combining them into an instrumental concept-EP.


In 2020 Angst Athens as a project moved into hiatus, making way to EDM/Bass music project <a href="spotify:artist:1Nyyg6aXsR3NPDJ1IiEZF9" data-name="Northv">Northv</a>.
