It was summer in Kolkata, India, 1985 and I was a curious 12 year old with little musical interest. It was curiosity that got me to pop in the "Live Aid" VHS tape. It was my awakening into rock n roll! And introduced me to great singer-songwriters like Phil Collins, Sting, and Elton John. I started learning guitar and piano and realized that I preferred the piano. I hated sight reading and started playing by ear. Soon, I was performing go-to ballads like Your song, Let it be, Piano Man, etc and through middle, high school won numerous competitions. College took me to Ohio where I studied Physics but took time out to jam with local bands. I also took classes in music production, albeit on a Moog, a Korg sequencer, and an 8 track recorder. I returned to India and joined the family business in 2000 and got busy with work, and family. I kept listening to songwriters and performing for friends. From around 2010 I started waking up with tunes (and lyrics) in my head and I just had to put them down. My home studio greatly helps in ideation and production. My songs are piano and vocal based and focus on matters that are important to me, and I hope will resonate with others too. My main influences are Billy Joel, Elton John, Marc Cohn, Paul McCartney, and more recently, I like Sara Bareilles, and Peter Cincotti.
