Anna Jónsdóttir (https://annajonsdottir.wixsite.com/website) , soprano and a voice artist lives in Reykjavík, Iceland.
In recent years A have been working as a freelance singer, actively contributing to the Icelandic music scene with solo concerts and participation in different projects, in addition to various performances in Europe and USA. My repertoire includes all kind of music, stretching from ancient times to the present. I enjoy very much to premiere/work with new music, experimental music, improvise, last but not least singing opera arias, lieder or whatever touches my heart.
Over the past decade, I have worked passionately with Icelandic musical heritage, using ancient folk music, with its dark, middle age texture, as a bridge for communication through space and time. I seek to bring the music to the people, singing it a cappella in special places, connected to the old times. I tell stories of the songs background.
I make an effort to transform the songs into a living time machine, aiming to create the opportunity of touching on gone generations
I have released CD with Icelandic folk songs, recorded in a Herring tank and a light house. Subsequently, I travelled around Iceland in 2015 and 2019, giving 22 performances, also making a documentary film, portraying the interaction folk songs, environment and nature.
In my leisure time I likes to be with my family, be in out in the nature, write poetry and take photos.
