My name is Anna Ottertun and I am a musician and a songwriter from Gothenburg, Sweden. Working with voice and it´s possibilities in sound making is my passion. Through my higher music education I started out with jazz and came across different kinds of folksinging and was amazed by the diversity in sound and techniques. In 1994 I met Talal Ismail from Mosul, Iraq and completely fell in love with his beautiful voice. We worked together the ensemble <a href="spotify:artist:3DmIYNzVTOroDG21jFjVFi" data-name="Sumer">Sumer</a> 1996-2012. In one of my ensembles, <a href="spotify:playlist:4BOWwk9hvuVgVw5O2X5S3A" data-name="Mor">Mor</a> ,I write music in oriental style and let it merge with my swedish language.
By now I have had a long career. I´ve toured mostly in Europe, but my music and interest in foreign cultures has brought me to places both in Africa and The middle East. I´ve been giving performances in Kongo, Rwanda, Algeria, in Kurdistan, Iraq and also in the US.
