ANON The Griot has been a devotee and practitioner of Hip Hop for over three decades. Initially inspired by Southern Gospel and the Blues, he developed an affinity for words at an early age. He didn’t discover Hip Hop until a joke song, The Rapping Duke (Da Ha), curiously combined his love of words with the Westerns he watched with his grandfather; after learning the simple lyrics, he’d create his own and a microphone fiend was born. He considers Soul Food Cypher as a welcome change from his history of freestyle battle rapping. Also an author and educator, he aspires to bring the craft and culture to greater prominence by working to develop freestyle curriculum in conjunction with Soul Food Cypher.
