Paul Nagle’s first recorded outing was in the early 1970s on The Choir of Preston Catholic College Sings. Sadly all copies have since been consumed by fungus. In the early 1980s, and contrary to popular demand, he began releasing music on various cassette labels.
In rare moments of sobriety he has written for Sound On Sound magazine.
Dean Honer is best known for his bands The All Seeing I and I Monster. Oh, and Moonlandingz, Eccentronic Research Council and the International Teachers of Pop. He has from his Sheffield base produced and mixed records for the likes of Add N to X, The Human League, Britney Spears, Moby, Roisin Murphy and many more.
Don Himlin is an American novelist. He had a great interest in ‘prog rock’ as a teenager, especially the English bands Yes and Genesis. Then came Eno’s ‘Another Green World’ album which directly influenced Don’s desire to write, record, and produce records.
Post turn of the century Don developed a last.fm label (now defunct) to display his collected and continuing band projects and a YouTube channel to expose his video experimentations while writing Of Meadows & More and raising a family in rural Pennsylvania.
Most of the tracks on XYZZY begin with one of Paul’s extensive modular synth jams, which he then sends from Preston over to Don in Pennsylvania to try and develop a song from it. Then from Pennsylvania it is sent, via the miracle of telegraph cable, back over or under the Atlantic to Dean’s house in Sheffield.
