Ansoara is a Venezuelan-Canadian multidiciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her music has been released on electronic labels Shika Shika and Cosmovision Records. Her sound is reminiscent of inspirations like Miss Bolivia, Lido Pimienta and Ibeyi. She is heavily influenced by the folkloric sounds of Latin America that meld African and Indigenous origins, including cumbia, guaguanco, salsa, bolero, ranchera, as well as flamenco, revolutionary latin folk, reggae and jazz. Her lyrics focus on the inner worlds of personal and cultural identities as well as self-empowerment, while exploring and affirming notions of nostalgia, heritage and roots.
