Anthony Truter

Singer/songwriter Anthony Truter makes honest and contemplative music with clear, inviting vocals that have a hint of soul and a peaceful presence. Anthony is a native to East London, South Africa and had a sense of rhythm from an early age. 


At sixteen, his dad got him a drum set. He only took about 4 drum lessons when the teacher said he should stop because he was left-handed, playing on a right-handed drum set. So he began teaching himself and soon formed a metal band with his high school friends. Aware of his love for music, Anthony was invited to be a part of a musical in high school and discovered a love for singing. Soon he learned how to play the acoustic guitar and began writing music of his own.


The music Anthony wrote was melancholy and focused on life’s troubles. He found himself in an intense moment of questioning if God was real, when he met a missionary couple who exposed him to who God really is. At this point, his journey as a musician took a turn with him writing music about things God was doing in his life and revelations of who God is as his Father. 


In 2015, Anthony’s first album, “Breaking the Chain,” was released in between several trips to the United States to lead worship at churches and small gatherings in Chicago, Illinois.


In 2017, Anthony married his wife Mary, who he met in the United States. They moved to Austin, Texas, and began leading worship and writing music together. Their single: ‘Rest in Me’ was released on 21 December 2018.
