Antonia Carrena is an English singer/songwriter whose songs explore love, heartache, and self-worth—delivered through a fusion encompassing the richness of R&B, the bounce of UK garage, and the soulfulness of amapiano. Inspired by the emotional honesty and empowerment of 90s and 2000s girl groups like Destiny’s Child and Sugababes, her music is laced with layered harmonies, smooth yet powerful vocals, and genre-blending production.
Raised in Somerset, she began writing songs and poetry from a young age, often accompanied by her sister on guitar, and developed a sound shaped by the storytelling of Lauryn Hill and Bob Dylan, and the textured production of artists like Aaliyah and Jazmine Sullivan.
Now based in London, Carrena has headlined venues including 93 Feet East and Gigi’s Hoxton, with extended shows at Notting Hill Arts Club and Hootananny Brixton. She has featured in The Unsigned Guide’s ‘Spotlight’ blog and received national radio play on Kiss Fresh and BBC 1Xtra, with support from DJ Target, Jeremiah Asiamah, and Sian Anderson, who named her track ‘Stick’ as BBC Introducing Track of the Week.
In 2021, her track ‘Oya’ was selected by Universal Production Music and shesaid.so for an International Women’s Day album. She later collaborated with acclaimed South African producer and singer/songwriter Batundi on an amapiano EP released through Universal Production Music. Her music has also featured on major TV shows and films such as Top Boy and She Taught Love.
