Since their founding in 2006, Antyra from Leipzig, Germany, have constantly pushed forward their own style which can be described as some kind of narrative epic metal with a big and rich musical variety. Heroic clean vocals and arrangements for three singers ring from their throats as do dark growls and fierce screams. Quietly elegiac parts, ice-black riffing walls, heavy blast beats, fat rocking grooves and dashing solos give each other metallic high fives. The English and (increasingly) German lyrics – dealing with fantasy stories, historically and mythologically inspired themes as well as philosophic ideas – are underlined by the musical dramaturgy of the songs’ arrangements.
The band’s full length debut “Pentachronist” (based on self-written short stories about the elements) was praised by the metal press as “a work of exquisite and eclectic complexity, stringing together theatrical parts with metal and rock” and “powerful music, played beyond of genres and borders”. After elaborating and recording their cover version of “Asgard” for the Therion tribute compilation “Blood Of The Dragon” (released in 2018 by Stygian Crypt Productions), Antyra are now about to unleash their next creative achievement: two albums that – in Antyra’s habitual variety – deal with the mythical and historical abysms of ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and Sumer. The first album, “Poiema”, will see the light of day in early 2022 – released under the banner of Spanish metal label Art Gates Records.
