Stanley Otieno, better known by his stage name “Apesi”
alias “Mnyama Mkali,” is a well-known Kenyan musician who
performs live and records music in a genre he describes as
“trad-urban sound” also known as Afro-Benga
(a combination of traditional and urban sound).
Apesi is a stage manager, songwriter, and voice teacher
Apesi began his musical career by performing cover songs
for both domestic and foreign performers.
With the release of his track “Kublus” in 2019,
Apesi launched a solo music career. The song received
a resounding response in his birthplace of Kisumu and
spread fast throughout the rest of the nation. On
November 10, 2020, his birthday, he released his debut
album, KUBLUS, to positive reviews from his admirers.
He released Obunga To The World, his second album in Octo-
ber 2021.His upbringing in Kisumu’s Obunga slum served as
the inspiration for this album. When he introduced the album
and performed live at the Luo Festival, he made a pledge to
his followers that he would use his music to bring awareness
of Obunga to the globe.
Following through on his pledge, Apesi began his first
European tour in May 2022, making stops in a number of
nations, including the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
The tour was successful.
Last Year He released his Third Album “The Black Jew
“ Otieno Jadisko after which he did a successful Europe
Tour.He toured
Netherlands,Germany and Finland.
Apesi now brings his Fourth studio album to the world Titled
Made In Kisumu Made In Kisumu.
