Apollo Amoris was born from work conducted within the mystical school of Bwiti (Gabon), an initiatory tradition passed down by the Pygmy people, which has been gaining increasing interest in the Western world. This music, stemming from an initiatory tradition, serves as a tool to accompany the exploration of the imaginal world and the laws of inspiration. At the helm of the project is a trio of friends connected since childhood. On vocals, Laurie Barat embarked on the initiatory path in the 2000s. As part of an ethno-musicological approach, she has collected a vast repertoire of medicine-songs and has since worked on their transmission. The second craftsman, Cédric Monzali on percussion (Haha Sounds Collective, Halo Maud, Weird Dreams), is also initiated to the Bwiti. Finally, Julien Gasc, singer-songwriter and member of Hyperclean, Stereolab and Aquaserge, produced this album, adding a shimmering touch to these trance melodies with his instrumental and vocal contributions. They are joined by Marja Burchard, vibraphonist of the band Embryo, and Enid Valu (Hochzeitskapelle). This debut album was recorded and mixed first in a church at night and later in the living room of a Munich apartment, during July 2024.
