Apollo Chilchuck is a boundary-breaking poet, recording artist, and songwriter weaving worlds between Rwanda, where his roots were planted, and Odense, Denmark, where his artistry blooms. A seeker of truth through words, Chilchuck discovered the power of storytelling in his pre-teens but waited until the early 2010s to let his pen roar. In 2018, he released “A Bard’s Dilemma and Time” poetry book under his birth name, Christian Alain Iradukunda, a work that captured time’s elusive nature. Four years later, he emerged as Apollo Chilchuck, a voice unafraid to dissect the intricate chaos of modern existence. His 2022 debut single, Post-Midnight Thoughts, marked the start of a sonic odyssey, with bold projects like Thucydides' Third Trap and Ozymandias II (The Republic) following close behind.
With influences ranging from the poetry of Nas to the rhythmic swagger of Freddie Gibbs, Chilchuck’s music defies convention. His sound draws from the soulful pulse of Hip-hop, the defiance of Rock 'n' Roll, the roots of Reggae, and the vibrant energy of South African House and Kwaito. Grounded in the rich traditions of Southern African, Western, and Rwandan spoken word poetry, “Ibyivugo and Ibisigo”, he reshapes them into something entirely his own—a collision of past and future, tradition and rebellion. Apollo Chilchuck isn’t just creating music; he’s crafting a soundscape that speaks to both the weight of his heritage and the boundless possibilities of a world without borders.
