April Martell is a songwriter who hails from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, living in Antigonish. Her debut album, produced by J.P. Cormier, is a resume of sorts, as she hopes to one day write for other artists. It is a little folk, a little country, a little contemporary. Always a writer and in private, a singer, it was only in 2018, when she wrote her first song. She was nearing forty. Two years later, she contacted a producer about a songwriting demo. Instead, she now has a full-length album of original songs that was completed in 2022.
