ARA is a British singer-songwriter, born and raised in West London.
Having a passion for music from an early age, she started writing and recording, taking inspiration from jazz, downtempo contemporary R&B and minimal electronica, which led to carefully crafting a genre-defying sound.
Her unique vocals have a dark ethereal yet soulful quality, which along with sentimental songwriting make for a distinctive and powerful combination. Likened to a mix of London Grammar and Lana Del Rey, at the same time evoking a feeling reminiscent of early Portishead.
ARA has a love for house, techno and trance which led to her collaboration with DJ and producer, Hannah Wants. ‘The One’, released on Defected Records, showcases her emotive vocals along with heartfelt lyrics. Her most recent release on Defected, ‘Hold Me’, gained Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune accolade and was remixed by HUGEL, further cementing her presence within the dance music scene.
ARA is currently collaborating with artists and exploring her creativity with new projects on the horizon.
