Arianna's delicate songwriting is rooted somewhere between her dreamy visions and what she reaps from real life experiences. Her voice carries one to an intriguing elsewhere, at the crossroads of indie folk-rock and the energy a Dolly Parton-like heart finds again after being broken.
Her latest EP , Multiple, was released on French indie label Les Disques Normal.
At the core of this record is her trading her folk guitar for an electric. Her writing subsequently changed and she started playing with a band, wanting to explore as many directions as possible by experimenting all kinds of new sounds. Some now hear similarities with Big Thief, Mothers or Angel Olsen.
"When you play as a band, you have to be open and vulnerable with one another. This was putting me at risk but also seemed inspiring and motivating. A band allows a richness and an intensity that a solo act doesn't convey and I wanted to explore that."
These songs are more incisive and uplifting than her previous releases and yet the feeling of intimacy that characterizes her music is still present.
"Multiple" explores the themes of love- as a driving force, the silent or unfinished kind or that of a safe haven; and of time passing- with its many obstacles and surprises. It also looks into the difficulty of remaining anchored in the present without giving in to constant daydreaming.
