As a composer, arranger, conductor and pianist/organist Arjan works in different musical areas (theater, concert hall, church). He studied composition and choral and orchestral conducting with Kees Schoonenbeek, Louis Buskens and Arjan Tien at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. At Tilburg University he obtained a PhD in Literature.
