Ash Temple is a solo art project by South African/Canadian musician Ashleigh Erasmus.
It explores themes of psychological transformation, death and rebirth, disintegration of personality, reintegration. Individuation. Symbolism. Spiritual Awakening.
The sound has evolved over the years from an acoustic folksy feel to a sort of art-rock/dark indie/dream folk/folktronica with psychedelic elements. What hasn’t changed is the emphasis on songwriting and lyrical content, which forms the backbone of Ash’s work.
“I write songs to give a container to intense emotional impulses. To externalize my own psychic landscape. To connect to the shared human experience of the person listening. Songwriting has been my constant companion over the years, it gives my life continuity.”
Ash Temple has been gestating in darkness and is now emerging from the chrysalis.
