Born in New Jersey, Ashli relocated to Western Sydney at age 11, where her musical talents – inspired by an eclectic love of <a href="spotify:artist:06HL4z0CvFAxyc27GXpf02" data-name="Taylor Swift">Taylor Swift</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4iHNK0tOyZPYnBU7nGAgpQ" data-name="Mariah Carey">Mariah Carey</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3DiDSECUqqY1AuBP8qtaIa" data-name="Alicia Keys">Alicia Keys</a> – continued to flourish, leading to a mentorship from Australian singer-songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:4xdEmbimxXyo9wXy9lq3ek" data-name="Gretta Ray">Gretta Ray</a>. The <a href="spotify:album:4g8qdFZN6YUdrQJnSWRJhC" data-name="Only One">Only One</a> EP, released in November, confirmed Ashli’s considerable range: from Latin-accented, Mariah-channeling R&amp;B (‘Lovesick’) to effervescent club grooves (‘<a href="spotify:track:3qTvzLD55cCR6p3sn5KsIz" data-name="Dance Again">Dance Again</a>’), the six tracks – built on vintage 808s, hi-hats and gleaming synth lines – shimmer with the singer’s gorgeous vocals and complex harmonies.
