Ashraf Mahrous was born in Cairo on January 29, 1963. At the age of 10, his father bought
him a xylophone as a reward for being an A student. He then taught himself to play music
by ear. During his prep and high school periods, he obtained a melodica, an accordion, and
then an electric piano and started forming his own band which performed at school
celebrations and elsewhere. Mahrous started his career early when his talented piano skills
singled him out for praise in the music community and landed him several gigs with a
number of well known bands at the time
2000 – Present:
Composer/Arranger
Composed and arranged the soundtracks and music themes for many movies and
television series including “Kesset Hob” (2018), “Mawlana Al-Asheq” (2016),
“Nawaya Baree’aa” (2015), “Al-Markeb” (2014), “Vertigo” (2013), “Al-Fagoumy”
(2012), “Sharei’ Abdel Aziz” (2011), “Ehna El-Talaba” (2010), “Sadeeq Al-Omr”
(2009), “Selsal Al-Damm” (2008), “Al-Daly” (2007), “Amaliyat Khassa” (2006),
“Mafeesh Fayda” (2005), “Sayyad Al-Yamam” (2003), and “Granita” (2000).
2000 – 2015:

Played the keyboards as a band member with the famous Egyptian female singers
Angham and Amal Maher and performed with them all over the world
1993 –2006:

Joined as a keyboardist in the Cairo Opera House orchestra performing worldwide
with the most renowned composer/pianist Omar Khairat
