A.Sims was once a member of the hip hop spoken word crew Commoners and Kings, based out of Long Beach, Ca. They frequented open mics in Los Angeles and open mics in the San Diego slam poetry scene. After touring and two albums the group broke up. Feeling disillusioned by poetry and music A.Sims began working on solo projects. He found new inspiration from his wife, his faith, art, and underground/backpack rappers like MF Doom, Mos Def, and more. This renewal lead to his first EP Cerulean in 2018. A.Sims plans to release new music that is inspired by the "Native Tongue" movement.
