Formed in the late summer of 2024, teenage indie-alternative rock duo Asleep In The Airport is confirmed by their critics and fans alike to be one of the bands of all time. Now based near Charlotte, North Carolina, the band’s permanent lineup consists of native San Diegans Aiden Bolstad, a multi-instrumentalist and shenanigan specialist who serves as primary songwriter, and his brother Matty, a talented drummer and tomfoolery-enjoyer with too much energy for his own good. A fully DIY operation from the start and to this day, the duo record and produce all their music entirely from their makeshift home studio, an effort that began with their debut album, “<a href="spotify:album:7yODDUj5DV3sOekVARFj6G" data-name="Stardust and Everything After">Stardust and Everything After</a> ”. Having developed their sound and skills since then with the release of their second album, “<a href="spotify:album:4NicgAhdsWxn9f1hfXvyZe" data-name="Sweet Gut-Wrenching Seventeen">Sweet Gut-Wrenching Seventeen</a>”, their current musical style draws less on the punk and emo influences of their earlier, less clean cut work, and instead puts heavy emphasis on nostalgic, sometimes surfy guitar riffs, vocal harmonies, and synth leads, all paired with fast paced, high energy drums, for that classic “indie rock” vibe, as seen in tracks like “<a href="spotify:track:1EdBQ4ZpUePJFvT1OfZMfO" data-name="In-N-Out">In-N-Out</a>” or “<a href="spotify:track:2MOhesSbedM33sne2QGvwi" data-name="AWOL (American Church Culture)">AWOL (American Church Culture)</a>”. However, they’re not afraid to tone it back (although Matty doesn’t usually like it when they do), with slow Southern Rock-style ballads like “<a href="spotify:track:67VlXx24TRAlmJZw6GlhGb" data-name="Cheap Bouquets">Cheap Bouquets</a>” or introspective acoustic-guitar based tracks like “<a href="spotify:track:2SI22bddNpv50OjIYh8wIU" data-name="Winter Song">Winter Song</a>” or “<a href="spotify:album:4NicgAhdsWxn9f1hfXvyZe" data-name="Sweet Gut-Wrenching Seventeen">Sweet Gut-Wrenching Seventeen</a> ”, the title track of their latest album.
