Atelier Blue is a collaborative project between Olivia McShane and Alex Bloomfield. Composing and producing jointly, the duo carved their sound in a home made spirit recording demos in McShane's home studio.
Their debut single 'Haunted', released in February 2019 is an effort in reflection and honesty... a glittery lament to the ones who got away.
'Empty Lungs', their second single is a snapshot into the troubles and intimacies of domesticated romance. "When we were writing the track in our session, the hooks seemed to come naturally to Alex and the lyrics poured out of me in a very visceral way. I think this song really wanted to be written, it represents feelings we know all too well: being in love, feeling trapped, needing someone so much you resent yourself for it, the release of energy after a fight… That’s the metaphor behind 'Empty Lungs'."
Their sound is characterised by a combination of live and electronic instruments and a heavily textured production style.
