Atium is a weekend project I (<a href="spotify:artist:5kFXOx8ONHOsWhXc2uOfuq" data-name="Daniel Ciurlizza">Daniel Ciurlizza</a>) set up and produced with my composer/producer/sound designer friends who I mix, write, produce, and work with.
When I'm not working on this, I'm:
- Writing music for films, trailers, ads, and other visual media;
- Cooking dinner too late and listening to an audiobook;
- Thinking of different ways I can be better at helping the people I work and interact with.
The name ATIUM isn't a real word, but it is inspired by something that actually exists—atriums! I've been in at least a few atriums, but one I remember most isn't even from real life. The 2017 video game, PREY, takes place in an abandoned spaceship, and in that spaceship there's a tree-filled atrium that they call the "Arboretum." That's probably one of the most interesting atriums I've ever been in. Truly beautiful level design and art direction in that game. It inspired me so much that I wanted to use it in a project.
