Attic was formed by five high school boys in 2012. Two siblings, Shadab Shams (vocals and guitars) and Sharar Shams (bass) and their uncle Tauhid Shams (lead guitars) grew up together in the same house in Dhaka. Ever since they were kids, they saw the art of music being practiced in their family which eventually led to them taking up instruments at a very early age.

Gourav Nandy (keyboards) was as far from music as Dhaka is from London. Sayem Chowdhury (drums), on the other hand, was busy getting good grades. They went to the same school with the Shams boys and from talking all things music to rehearsing together, the teenagers gradually found their way into being a band.

Attic's early days consisted of playing cover songs from Foo Fighters, Muse, Coldplay, The Killers and The 1975. The band quickly won the support of the local music scene and began performing regular gigs in schools, indoor lounges, house parties, and concerts. Within a couple of years, the group had a few songs of their own, and very soon, people started singing along with them at their shows.

Attic’s first EP - 'Do You Hear That', of four songs was released independently in 2018. The band also produced and released their first-ever official music video of their song 'Echoes In Your Attic’ on YouTube the same year. Due to its originality and execution, the video was well received by local arts communities and was highly appreciated by well-known musicians from the city.
