Austri

Like the folksy nature of Sufjan Stevens, Ichiko Aoba, and Florist, Austri also used the hushed environment to his advantage that only a folk musician could. In the tantalizing isolation back in 2020, Austri composed as a way to cope from that darkness and rely on the warmth that music has always brought to him. Reflecting his lingering thoughts and raw emotions that collectively settle within his melodies and lyricism.

Fast forward in 2024, his debut EP, ‘The place where birds meet’ was released. A project that was worked on for over 3 years, the overall concept was inspired by his research on the migration of birds that eventually reflects on the ups-and-downs of his life. It’s a reflection that is heard within the music itself. Full of warm acoustics with post-rock pathways, solemn vocal lilts, curious ambient patchworks, and lyrical pastures that uses optimism as a fortress amidst the unexpected wraths of life.

Best described by the title of the EP itself, this is just the starting point of a long wandering journey ahead for Austri. With his eye for finding the beauty within the smallest moments in our lives, he ensures to encapture them with nothing but his soft vocals, detailed songwriting, soothing ambiance, and unspooling melodies. Like the birds that continue to venture through the skies, Austri’s penchant for unraveling beauty within mundanity is a quality that will flap away his wings, seeking the light that lies within this worldly horizon.
