A Portuguese gothic doom metal outfit headed up by former Mayhem member Rune Eriksen, Ava Inferi (other members were: Carmen Simoes on vocals, Jame Ferreira on bass, Joao Samora on drums -- Eriksen was responsible for composition and guitar work) released their first album, Burdens, in 2006. A surprise for those who wouldn't expect such work from a former member of one of the giants of Norway's nascent black metal scene, Rune's new outfit made enough of a critical impression and drew comparisons as wide ranging as Moonspell and Pink Floyd.
