Avern

AVERN is a four headed beast born in 2018 in Barcelona. Formed by veterans with a long history in Barcelona's underground DIY scene that worked their way into bands like TORT, CRUZ, INSTINTO and HOLOCAUST IN YOUR HEAD among many others before converging to create this project.

Their first two opus "Witches' Eyes" and "Hell On Earth" are a sonic journey that defies the boundaries of the metal genre, both albums seamlessly weaves together the ferocity of black metal, the intensity of death metal, and the rebellious spirit of punk rock. Recently, "Hell on Earth" garnered great reviews from notable publications of the underground press, the album secured a spot on various "Best Albums of 2023" lists, reaching the coveted number one position on Mondo Sonoro's rankings.

Inspired by bands like HELLHAMMER, UNLEASHED, DISCHARGE, VENOM, POISON IDEA and DARKTHRONE, their music can be defined as some kind of metal punk that draws from various sources, from the oldest thrash death metal to the early and raw black metal, the stinkiest stench core and the fierce 80’s hardcore punk. Like they proudly declare their sound is "heavy as metal and raw as punk".
