Awaiting Connection

Awaiting Connection are a four-piece alternative rock band based in Melbourne and Sydney. Originally formed on the Central Coast, the band began with Clam on vocals, Cosmo on guitar, and Amy on bass. They released ‘Flatlined’ as their debut single, recorded and mixed on cheap home equipment, and featuring a session drummer.

In mid-2024, Awaiting Connection released an early version of their song Insane Aquarium, as a single marking their first step toward defining their sound. Following the release of their second single, the band was inspired to develop a collection of songs in a similar style, leading to the creation of their upcoming EP, first time living.

During this time, the band recruited Nic as their drummer. His fast-paced, complex drumming style helped solidify the band's sonic identity. Their EP “first time living” explores themes of adolescence and the transition into adulthood. The songs vary sonically, borrowing from a range of genres and blending alt-rock, emo, shoegaze, and indie rock with off-kilter ’90s-inspired guitar stylings, fast and heavy metal-influenced percussion, warm, complementary basslines, and pop-inspired melodies fused with raw industrial textures.

By incorporating elements from their diverse musical backgrounds, Awaiting Connection have crafted a distinctive sound that is instantly recognizable as their own.
