Awon & Phoniks

<a href="spotify:artist:2M9OIHcdVSxhPVCYQ3z5Rf" data-name="Awon">Awon</a> &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:5YrpR5RPxUnjQYdNw3WkkH" data-name="Phoniks">Phoniks</a> are a hip hop duo from Newport News, VA and Portland, ME respectively. They met by chance in 2013 when Phoniks reached out to Awon via email. A few weeks later their first album, <a href="spotify:album:0ZIE03iiMw2zzVihldfkXb" data-name="Return to the Golden Era">Return to the Golden Era</a> was released. The album was met with wide critical acclaim via the internet and the rest is history. Awon &amp; Phoniks along with artist from their label have independently toured Europe, headlining their own tours, visiting 5 different countries selling out venues on their own merit. They are the shining example of independent hip hop with a grassroots, organic movement. At the moment Awon &amp; Phoniks are celebrating the 5th anniversary of their first album and gearing up for a documentary film about the journey of Don’t Sleep Records by Téo Frank called, Underdogs.
