AyeLigi (pronounced AY-ling-EE), was born on the Polynesian island of Samoa, but was raised in the Bay Area of Northern California. She first stepped onto the music scene in 2019, but comes from a very musical background. She describes her childhood consisting of singing in church, to playing the piano, and her mother teaching her how to harmonize when she was just 5 years old. “Music has always been a part of my life”, AyeLigi says. “No matter where I go or what I do… Music just makes the most sense to me. It’s who I am. I can’t run from it!”, she laughs. “This is what I’m supposed to do.”
She started singing mash-ups covers of R&B songs on Soundcloud and Instagram in 2018, then dropped her first official single “Forever” in 2019, where she did her own rendition of Jon B’s “They Don’t Know” in her second verse.
Since then, she’s been featured on many other artists’ songs and finally decided to come out with her own project in 2023 called, “444” featuring all male artists such as Kenai, Gldnboy, BOI, and Sefa M.
She describes the three 4’s in “444” to represent “4 You, 4 Me, 4 Us”.
Which explains the next EP she dropped later in 2023 called, “4 You”, with all female artists including Nay2wice, Dream+2, Juanita Collins, and Lowk3yClutch.
With her latest EP she released on February 24th called, “4 Me”, she talks about how important it is show up for yourself. “Like I said in my last song, ‘4 Me’, I did this for me. I’m proud of myself. I’ve really come a long way.”
