Yusuf Esau,better known as BAAS is an upcoming artist from a suburb of Cape Town,Mitchell’s Plain.Yusuf,got into the world of music at the age of 8,inspired by his father that influenced him into becoming a Dj (disc jockey) and from there excelled.

Yusuf began making his own beats in high school & started producing his own music at the age of 16.Freestyling with friends & doing school shows boosted his ambition to do more.Wanting to do music for the love instead of the fame,he made beats & just sent it out to anyone trying to make something of themselves as an artist.He tried uplifting people through his beats.

In 2019,he released “The SadTapes: Happiness “ under his former alias iamYusuf
experimenting with different elements of music,trying to find his perfect sound.
Taking a break from making his own music he started to network & collaborate with more Cape Townian artists,learning & perfecting his craft even further.

Taking a 2 year break being an artist,Yusuf,abandoned the name “iamYusuf”
And presented him to the industry as “Baas”.
Making huge waves in the industry with his versatile beats & lyrics you can bop to.

Baas entered the music scene with one mission,to great good feel music for his hometown.Not trying to replicate any local or international artists,just presenting himself with a love for music.

Releasing his hit single “Vol Of Me” on 30th September 2023,paved the way for the artists career,pushing the boundaries of South African music.
