San Francisco's Baby Carrot was originally formed in 1992. Taking their cue from such disjointed alt-pop messiahs as Pavement, Superchunk, and Sonic Youth, the group has been known to expand their sonic palette from time to time -- incorporating keys, violin, and layered guitars into the mix. Their late-'90s lineup consisted of Dave Power on vocals/guitar, Andy Chapman on bass, and Dennis Galway on drums, but by mid-2000, Galway was replaced by former Portland, OR, resident Oren Williams. Baby Carrot has issued several singles and appeared on numerous compilations over the years, as well as issuing the double-disc set Day Street 1992-1996. 2001 saw their first proper full-length release, Play Every Day, issued on their own Some Guy Down the Street label. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
