Bad to the Bone is a Dutch guitar band that exists since 1979. The band was founded in Reeuwijk near Gouda by the brothers Marc (vocals, harmonicas and guitar), Maarten (guitar and vocals) and Gerben Ibelings (drums), together with bass player Paul de Kruyff. The band had successful years in the late 1980s and early 1990s when two albums were released that were produced by the English producer Mike Vernon, the debut album Bad to the Bone (1988 Megadisc) and the second album Whirlwind on Fire (1990 EMI).
The group was dissolved at the end of 1990, but in 1996 a restart was made and the band has been operating from Rotterdam since then. In 1998 the band released the album Primitive Urge (Flash in the Pan Records, distribution Pias) on which bassist Paul van Schaik and drummer Karel Dops form the rhythm section. In September 2017 the fourth album Thirteen and in 2023 the fifth album Pretty Promises ( both Flash in the Pan Records) were released.
