"Blond Girl by the Lake" OUT NOW xoxo
My name is Baddou and my goal is to inspire people through music.
I grew up in Casablanca, Morocco, surrounded by love, sea and sand, family and friends, and the power of art.
From ages 7 to 12, I grew up on the music my parents loved, including Michael Jackson, Supertramp, George Benson, and George Michael among others. At the age of 13, I discovered Pink Floyd, Oasis, and other rock bands. All these legends inspired me endlessly.
During high school, Radiohead, The Smiths, Cocteau Twins and Beach House guided me through my teenage years as I discovered love and the meaning of friendship. During that time, I recorded many songs in my bedroom with a Yamaha mixing table and my beloved Fender American Stratocaster. I even uploaded a first album on YouTube, called "Green Dreams" which is still available.
After high school, I left Africa for Canada, where I spent four years. My cold winter nights were spent listening to jazz fusion legends like Pat Metheny, Al Di Meola and the Mahavishnu. I also learned about the meaning of music theory, and drowned in a mixolydian sea of modes, circles of fifths, harmonies, and other beautiful concepts.
During that time, the world was hit by Covid-19, and I started dreaming of an album named "Lydian Knight of Dreams" (LKOD), because I've always loved major 7th #4.
