East London native by way of Hackney, Bagz (Joshua Onoita) is a singer-songwriter/rapper and dancer. He’s musical influence came from his mother “she made me understand the need for diversity in music.” This only broadened Bagz' musical intake. As he got into his teenage years, his influences grew further into more socially created cultural genres, artists like D’Banj (Afrobeat), Skepta (Rap), and Big Narstie (Grime).
Whilst still in secondary education, friend introduced Bagz to a youth centre in his local area, there he found a home in the studio. And although quite shy and revered, Bagz gained the confidence to create songs that reflected his personality, as an artist.
At age 17, Bagz made his first record; “Put In Work” followed by “Moving Anti”, then “Yeah Yeah”. And although completing secondary education, Bagz decided not to take higher education route, but instead invest his all into his artistry. He later released “WhatsApp” which solidified his reasoning. With that buzz, Bagz decided to take steps and transition into a career artist.
"I think my hunger drives my motivation, especially coming from the environment I’m coming from, it just made me want to focus more on something that will propel me and enable me to explore what else is out there. Hackney can seems like a big place, but there’s a bigger world out there.”
Bagz believes that his discipline towards his career is what makes him standout -
