Baka Dabri is an Afrofusion, Highlife and Reggae artiste. He was born Raphael Somaila Ibrahim Bakalakum Dabri in a small town called Fumbisi in the Upper East region of Ghana.
As the child of a Christian mother and a Muslim father who were never together as a married couple, Baka had to move and relocate a lot and it came with multicultural experiences.
With such diversity, Baka honed his musical talent by fusing it with his life experiences, African melodies, moving lyrics, and a voice unique to him that carries his messages.
He mainly uses a blend of English, Pidgin, Hausa and Twi in his compositions. His storytelling and language code-switching abilities give him an admirable flow and versatility as an artiste. And the themes he writes about are usually based on personal experiences rather than fiction, which enables him to capture his listeners and take them on a relatable melodic and poetic trip.
Baka lives in the capital of Ghana, Accra, with his friends from uni as housemates. And as one big family of creatives, they work and create to inspire the world.
