Barraka is a hip-hop rapper from north London. He has been rapping since 1998 after being inspired by artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Big Pun and Eminem. In 2003 he began performing consistently throughout London for the next 3 years. In 2006 the 1st music video he featured in was a song called the 18/24 collective, and was one the representatives of this government initiative project to encourage young people to vote. This music video was televised on national T.V and advertised all across London that year. After these many years of professional recording and performing experience, Barraka decided to work closely with his childhood friend and longtime collaborator, 2012 DMC turntable finalist Dj Downlow and in 2008 they released their 1st project, The Connection Mixtape, which featured London hip-hop artists such as Super Novar and Mr. Ti2bs, this was followed by their 2nd released, A Waste Odysee in 2011.
In 2015, Barraka teamed up with Dj Downlow and French trap producer Zediyah to make Boomtrap, an album that showcased Barraka’s fast pace rapping abilities over a combination of traditional boombap hip-hop and modern trap beats. Barraka once again collaborated with Dj Downlow for their latest album, Cyberphunk. This is their magnum opus and features Don’t Flop battle rap legends, Dekay and Tenchoo, as well fellow crew members of the I.C.E among others.
