Concert pianist Bart Berman focuses mainly on the works of Franz Schubert, and his recordings include a double CD of the composer's works. He also plays contemporary music and spent part of his career as a member of Ensemble M. Additionally he formed musical partnerships with such artists as Meir Wiesel, Sara Fuxon, and Abbie de Quant.

Berman was born in the Netherlands in 1938 but left to settle in Israel in 1978. He pursued his musical education at Amsterdam Academy as a composition student of Bertus van Lier and as a piano student under Jaap Spaanderman. Previously he received instruction in piano and composition from Wouter van den Berg. Upon leaving the academy, he studied with Alfred Brendel and Theo Bruins.

In addition to giving concerts and recitals and making recordings, Berman also spent time teaching. He held faculty positions at both the Arnhem Academy of Music and the Rotterdam Academy of Music. He composed for the piano, too, and penned the finishing touches for several Schubert sonatas that remained incomplete.

Berman's abilities in both the contemporary and classical genres earned him a number of awards and prizes, among them top honors from the International Gaudeamus Competition for Interpreters of Contemporary Music, acknowledgment from Israel for his involvement in Israeli music, and the Dutch Prize of Excellence. His original works have been recorded in both Holland and Israel.

Berman's partnership with de Quant, a flautist, began in 1970. The pianist became a member of the contemporary Ensemble M that same year. Upon settling in Israel, he partnered with Fuxon, a pianist, in Duo Beer Sheva. During this period Berman also took to the stage as part of the Israel Sinfonietta. He and pianist Wiesel got together in 1994 to establish Duo 4. Other collaborations include partnerships with Sharon Pinsely, a choreographer and dancer, and with Simcha Barbiro and Batsheva Zeisler, both of whom are vocalists.
