Bas Clas (pronounced “bahs clahs”, the name is derived from a slang Cajun term meaning “low class”) is a Louisiana-rooted rock band formed by brothers Donnie and Steve Picou in 1976. The band developed a cult following in the South and Southeast, built on marathon live shows and an uncompromising commitment to originality. In 2010, the band began recording a series of new projects at the renowned Dockside Studio. With five studio releases and soon to be six from their ongoing work at Dockside, and collaborating with many fellow Louisiana artists, Bas Clas is far from done. Their still-growing catalog blends rock, social commentary, and Louisiana roots with modern production and enduring authenticity, qualities the world needs just as much now as ever.
