Bathtub cig is the intimate depression pop project of Hilary James. Born in a Minneapolis bedroom, it is an honest attempt at coping with her long struggle with mental health. She is joined by Dave Power on drums, Hannah Hebel on keys, and Skyler Nowinski on bass. Their 2018 debut EP “Old Light” draws comparisons to a synth-pop version of Frankie Cosmo with raw lyrics. Bathtub cig’s second EP “bed” is a sweet and heartbreaking journey through grief over the global pandemic and the sudden loss of her bandmate, Leah Ottman. In 2022, bathtub cig released their first full length, "Night Blindness". The 2024 single "Red Pine" is a triumphant sapphic love song with a new album coming out on September 5, 2024.
