Heavily influenced by the classic hard pop of the late '70s and early '80s that spilled across the FM airwaves in San Diego, Toronto, Singapore and Rochdale, who could not be hooked by such sounds? Spin forward 40 years (in a pimped up DeLorean) a stone's throw from Olympic Studios – the recording Mecca of The Stones, The Who, Queen, Led Zep, Floyd, Duran, Bowie and The Beatles – Bauplan formed in 2019.

The vision of the band, inspired by a lifelong ambition of guitarist TC, was to perform a cover of 'Yellow Pills' by alt-70s act 20/20. He commandeered fellow Roehampton University employee Li Gunn to play bass. Then, through an online musicians' forum, recruited Didge, the former keyboard player from Chester-based band Lapel. By a chance conversation Li and Didge discovered that they were actually more proficient playing each other's instruments and so swapped positions in the band. Then, a couple of months later, David “Wilkie” Leach joined on drums. His pedigree dating back to the 80s, playing with 'Random Hold' alongside Peter Gabriel's guitarist David Rhodes, and Simon Ainley & Bill McCormack, who both worked with with Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera.

The style of Bauplan's songs are catchy, hard and pub-perfected... the band define as Hard Pop.
