Baviis is a rising Kenyan artist based in Switzerland, blending Afrobeat, R&B, and soul-pop into a sound uniquely his own — a genre he calls AfroRNB. He started off in rap, but along the way, discovered a deeper, more authentic voice through cultural experimentation. Influenced heavily by the Afrobeats and R&B his mother played during his childhood, he found his lane by fusing the rhythms he knew with the emotions he felt.
“I had to slow down with rap,” Baviis says. “It was leading me into a dark space — I’d have to switch my energy to something heavy, and the world is already carrying too much of that.” Instead, he created AfroRNB as an escape — music that brings joy, rhythm, and light.
