Beachtown Exile is the moniker of Berlin-based Canadian musician Liam McArdle whose sound fuses soul, psychedelic rock, folk and indie into a timeless and evocative blend. Drawing inspiration from the rich harmonies of the Beach Boys, the storytelling of Jim Croce and Rodriguez and the raw edge of Velvet Underground, Beachtown Exile creates music that feels nostalgic but has a modern edge. With a signature style that combines heartfelt lyrics and lush instrumentation, the project has steadily build a reputation for crafting songs that linger long after the final chord fades.
Since the release of three EPS - Beachtown Exile (2015), Beachtown Exile II (2016), and the Good Night E.P. – the project has continually evolved. Beachtown Exile’s debut album Feeling Again (2020), marked a turning point after a period of perceived isolation and depression, offering an expansive and intimate exploration of both the lows and the highs of life. His sophomore album, Lost Chances, recorded in Japan in August 2023, is to be released in July of 2025. The leading single “Sun Worshipper”, released on December 4th, 2024 is a psychedelic and folky exploration of heartbreak and good times gone by, pairs sardonic lyrics with a surprisingly upbeat melody, capturing Beachtown Exile’s signature ability to find even joy in sorrow. With Lost Chances, Beachtown Exile hopes to channel personal experiences into universal stories, and maybe have a few bangers to boot.
