Beat Dominator is a pseudonym of producer Neil Case, one of the premiere forces in bass music, a form of hip-hop that concentrates on its ability to create subsonic bass frequencies. He got his start as a DJ in his native Jamaica, where he first became fascinated with the low frequencies in the records he was spinning. Moving on to a job as an assistant engineer in Kingston's Dynamic Sound Studios, he worked with reggae legends like <a href="spotify:artist:3rJ3m1tM6vUgiWLjfV8sRf">Jimmy Cliff</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0oea1hwGMfUxZbLxJc1XUN">Peter Tosh</a> while learning the technical aspects of a recording career. After years behind the boards at Dynamic, he moved to Miami and started releasing homemade bass mixes consisting of his own material. Going under the alias of Beat Dominator for the first two years, he decided to switch to the more relevant <a href="spotify:artist:4JUSCFfdr8aYMOMt4Fv0YK">Bass Mekanik</a> moniker in 1994. Still, he had made such a mark as the Beat Dominator that he continued to release albums under that name as well. Teaming with Keith Rosenberg in the Bass Inc. project helped to create a difference between his two aliases, but after an initial attempt at making the Beat Dominator more techno-oriented, there was nothing differentiating the two projects by the late '90s. After releasing a steady stream of bass albums in the '90s under the Beat Dominator moniker, Case seems to have retired it in the wake of starting www.BassMekanik.com, the record label/website that releases his <a href="spotify:artist:4JUSCFfdr8aYMOMt4Fv0YK">Bass Mekanik</a> projects. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
