Becoming Akh

Becoming Akh is a one man progressive deathcore band from Portland, OR. Started in 2013 with a self-titled EP, Chris Wittren put out music constantly by himself, composing the music, playing all the instruments, and producing all his own albums. Signed to Transcending Records, he put out Abolisher and Absolute Truth under the label.

Following in 2018, Akh released The Apophis Solution, a concept album about a cult taking over the world in favor of the deity of chaos known as Apophis. When the pandemic happened, Akh released the EP known as The Plague Sessions as a shadow drop in 2021, which demonstrated the beginning of an evolution of sound to further mold the project's vision.

Inspired by the loss of so many loved ones in both his own personal life and the tragedies during the pandemic, Chris began work on a new album that touches on how you can lose someone physically, spiritually and mentally. After spending 2 years on the record, releasing prior singles over the course of time, Becoming Akh finally dropped After Life, which covers both Egyptian lore and life experiences culminating a heavy sound drenched in atmosphere and ethnic instruments throughout, creating the most successful Becoming Akh album to date.

After doing this project for over 10 years, Becoming Akh is not letting up anytime soon. With a goal in mind to achieve with each record, and a desire to create music forever, Becoming Akh will be here. Forever, eternal.
