Belaver

Belaver (former frontman of doom-folk band <a href="spotify:artist:5Y0WZA76AW3jlFV9rxVe9N" data-name="listenlisten">listenlisten</a>) is the solo project of NYC-based experimental folk artist B.E. Godfrey. In 2014, Godfrey released <a href="spotify:album:7yvbRzojqFODuzoTBBUPKi" data-name="Wild Desperation">Wild Desperation</a> (Chill Mega Chill/Very Jazzed, 2014), his debut solo EP, featuring collaborations with country legend <a href="spotify:artist:6XtG9W2KkPiQ6n1rlIvTJE" data-name="Robert Ellis">Robert Ellis</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:57lZV9UhuFwsrNGADnli40" data-name="Deep Cuts">Deep Cuts</a>’ Chase Harris. Drawing on the dark lyricism of his work with <a href="spotify:artist:5Y0WZA76AW3jlFV9rxVe9N" data-name="listenlisten">listenlisten</a>, <a href="spotify:album:7yvbRzojqFODuzoTBBUPKi" data-name="Wild Desperation">Wild Desperation</a> was a five-track EP chock full of elegantly stark instrumentation and ominous narratives about murderous men. Godfrey, now working under the pseudonym <a href="spotify:artist:5lLWdE6rKZbPxuns5haKqZ" data-name="Belaver">Belaver</a>, released his debut full length, &#39;True Love Of Crime&#39; in 2019. Also produced by Robert Ellis, &#39;True Love of Crime&#39; is a more polished contrast to Wild Desperation, lush with electronic elements around themes of criminal lovers on the run. Belaver&#39;s second LP &#39;Lain Prone&#39; is complete and will be released October 22nd 2021 on Niles City Records.
