Ben Aqua's unique brand of genre-bending hyperpop electronic music productions and DJ sets gained notoriety in the early 2010s with their viral <a href="spotify:artist:0hCNtLu0JehylgoiP8L4Gh" data-name="Nicki Minaj">Nicki Minaj</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6vWDO969PvNqNYHIOW5v0m" data-name="Beyoncé">Beyoncé</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:2NdeV5rLm47xAvogXrYhJX" data-name="Ciara">Ciara</a> bootleg club edits. In 2011, Ben produced a series of warehouse parties in Austin and created the experimental club music label <a href="spotify:playlist:6tkoc1zy60Mb0GpQ1DNGkl" data-name="#FEELINGS">#FEELINGS</a>, which helped launch the careers of <a href="spotify:artist:7w29UYBi0qsHi5RTcv3lmA" data-name="Björk">Björk</a> collaborators <a href="spotify:artist:2X3e2rDdxibDfJGv0CwS7A" data-name="Rabit">Rabit</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7o2Y6TQr9B0ynZGhUDAkyj" data-name="Lotic">Lotic</a>.
From 2011-2014, Ben released several singles and remixes for <a href="spotify:artist:2Tz1DTzVJ5Gyh8ZwVr6ekU" data-name="STRFKR">STRFKR</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:57anmI1X2hXWPrNagFdzZr" data-name="YACHT">YACHT</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:1U0FaHAc4fcwQcYEJFgkm9" data-name="Balmorhea">Balmorhea</a>, plus a production for <a href="spotify:artist:3AA28KZvwAUcZuOKwyblJQ" data-name="Gorillaz">Gorillaz</a> collaborator <a href="spotify:artist:5Tz4zMiRWqiQVAymWZz99a" data-name="Zebra Katz">Zebra Katz</a>'s "Red River." In 2014, Ben released their debut full-length album, '<a href="spotify:album:09DhKGlbNpGnavQyCxJMMx" data-name="Virtual Anticipation">Virtual Anticipation</a>'. Later that year, Ben produced a Resident Advisor podcast featuring like-minded artists <a href="spotify:artist:5a2w2tgpLwv26BYJf2qYwu" data-name="SOPHIE">SOPHIE</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:335TWGWGFan4vaacJzSiU8" data-name="A. G. Cook">A. G. Cook</a> from PC Music. The mix's unusually bright, hyperpop aesthetic quickly garnered much controversy within the club music scene, and it was named FACT Magazine's Mix of the Week.

In 2018, Ben's song "<a href="spotify:track:3tY1tjUXyFKOlAFIEapQwV" data-name="Reset Yourself">Reset Yourself</a>" was featured in Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” ad campaign and their <a href="spotify:artist:5R7K1GezC0jy24v1R2n4x3" data-name="Fischerspooner">Fischerspooner</a> remix was released on <a href="spotify:artist:45gUc6C9pBNX1XOCACRi3H" data-name="Ultra Music">Ultra Music</a>.
