Ben Bostick is becoming hard to define.
Following in the wake of five lauded Americana albums, Bostick’s latest album finds him far afield from familiar pastures. Become Other, the sixth full-length from this erstwhile street performer and honky tonk hero, owes more to Reznor and Beethoven than to Haggard and Cash. There is no doubt that many listeners familiar with Bostick’s catalog are shocked that this dense and genre-bending mythical song symphony flowed from the same pen as the greasy blues rocker “Feeling Mean."
